Michelle Carolan – Biography

Michelle is currently employed as the Deputy Chief Officer of Quality for Sandwell and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group (SWB CCG), and is the executive lead for governance.

The quality team provide assurance of the quality of care across the acute and community NHS providers that SWB CCG commission. Michelle also has oversight with regards to the nursing performance data.

Michelle works collaboratively across the region to benchmark care quality as well as addressing poor care and escalating concerns with providers, commissioning partners; including Local Authority and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Prior to this position Michelle worked in the commercial sector as a Wound Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, and before that worked in the community within South Birmingham as a District Nurse Caseload Holder.

 Michelle discovered her passion for wound care during her time on the community and has continued to pursue her passion by completing various degree models in wound care. Michelle is a member of the NHS England West Midlands Pressure Ulcer Elimination group.
